Garbage cans in general are a place for objects that we want to forget about,
an alter for wastes that we sacrifice. They are the black hole
into which we place the
evidence of our eating, drinking,
smoking, and consumption; the evidence of our physical
presence. The garbage cans in the theatre are designed to be visually
attractive and to hide garbage in a stylized shell.
Thus they are better at their job
of allowing us to forget
our waste than most garbage cans.
